Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you've all had a great festive period and are suitably stuffed after yesterday's food-fest. This time of the year also signals the start of the winter sales so I figured I'd do a selection of the best sale picks I could find online. If you like anything I have posted then I recommend you act fast as the best stuff always goes very quickly. For example, I bought a couple of items from the Urban Outfitters sale on Christmas Eve and by the time I came to do this post today they had gone! I can't deal with the horrid stress of sales crowds and therefore online sales are perfect! You just have to know when to expect them - usually they're released online earlier than they are in store so 24th/25th of December. Also just a note to say sorry I haven't posted in a long time but my final year of university is proving to be very hard work so this semi-hiatus looks set to continue. However, I do really appreciate those who have stuck with the blog!</div>

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Topshop</span></b><br />
<br />
I'm guilty of picking a few of items I already own in a couple of these sale picks. In my Topshop picks I already own the cami, the chunky tread loafers, and the baseball-style sweatshirt. However, they're all items I wear to death so I have not got that annoying sinking feeling of having paid full price for something then having spotted it at half the price in a sale not long after! Perhaps some would disagree but I still don't feel like the 'mom' jean tread has completely run its course and these darker blue denim ones are the perfect turn-up jeans. I haven't really been into the light wash denim ones, perhaps because blue denim really isn't my 'thing', but these Topshop ones are a great compromise. The devore dress is not something I would usually go for but I think the detailing is stunning and it would look amazing with a pair of black glitter heels, matching clutch bag, and an OTT fur coat for a great night out look. I have this blue camisole in black and white and have found them absolutely invaluable. I highly recommend you snap this up now while its such a low price because they look great on their own in summer or layered under plaid shirts and fluffy cardigans in winter. The heavy tread on these loafers is reminiscent of the Stella McCartney treads. I have had these shoes for a few months now and I absolutely love them (unsurprising as I have already spoken at length about my affinity for ugly shoes!). However, I have had a very split opinion on them from friends and family!<br />

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Urban Outfitters</span></b><br />
<br />
The Urban Outfitters sale is always great for jewellery because, as lovely as it is, it is eye-stingingly expensive at full non-sale price! If this gold square pendant was silver, I would have snapped it up right away. However, while I don't really suit gold, I do love simple jewellery and this would look so good over a simple black shift dress or bodycon. I bought the Cheap Monday paperclip necklace from their Carnaby Street store when I went down for LFW in September and have worn it pretty much daily ever since. The glitter clutch would make for a very classy night out bag or even just a jazzy makeup/wash bag. The Grafea leather bags are rather expensive but I think this is a sale bargain because a good quality leather backpack, this the one above, isn't going to go out of trend for some time yet. I have been digging these lace dresses, that verge dangerously on lingerie, all winter but just haven't found the perfect one yet. Perhaps I should invest in this one before it disappears!<br />

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Motel</span></b><br />
<b><br /></b>
A couple of years ago I bought the long-sleeved Gabby dress from Motel and despite only having worn it on a few occasions, its one of the best clothing purchases I have ever made. I get compliments on it every time I wear it and I don't feel like its out of trend yet. It is very similar to the Zabby dress I have included above. Some would say that dungarees and pinafores are over now but I still think there is a time and place for them. I see a lot of girls at raves and bars wearing glitter tops underneath pinafore dresses and they look fab, kind of wish I had got on board with that before christmas! The tie-dye suni dress would make for a great daytime purchase with docs and an oversized cocoon coat. I tried on the off-the-shoulder bodycon version of the rose printed dress above a few months ago in Ark. Sadly the style of dress just didn't suit me but I absolutely love the broken rose print.<br />

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Zara</span></b><br />
<br />
Zara was by far the best sale I came across this year. They don't do massive discounts but they do put pretty much their entire website on sale so it is kind of worth it. I have been dithering over these massive scarves since Zara brought them out earlier this year and I really wanted the red and black version but I have this lovely tartan scarf from Urban Outfitters that serves me well so there really wasn't any point! The coat in the centre is very Celine and I think, providing it isn't too thick, would take you through to spring. However, if you want to channel the Celine vibe without committing to something big like this coat then I recommend the skirt in the bottom left hand corner. The checked lingerie dress is another lust item from Zara. On their website they have styled it over a black turtleneck which is something I would never have thought of but its a pretty genius way of making something small and slinky weather appropriate for winter!<br />

Lately I've noticed a trend resurgence for Kickers. For me, this brand rekindles memories of many pairs of well loved and well worn school shoes. Out of all the Kickers I had, there was one pair of chunky black buckled heels that I was particularly fond of. However, the Kickers shoe of choice now is the legendary 'Kick Hi' boot.</div>

Kickers is a french brand founded in 1970 and the first 'Kick Hi' boot surfaced in 1975. It has become famous for its musical connections. Being worn by the likes of Roger Daltrey of The Who fame (below). It later became popular amongst the acid house scene before becoming synonymous with the 'Madchester' and Brit Pop scene in the 1990s. Kick Hi's have always made me think of The Stone Roses because of their Fools Gold video. Hence my poor attempt at a Stone Roses reference in the title of this blog post. </div>

I am kicking myself now a bit as Jarvis Cocker is one of my heroes. However, I'm sure I would have made a bit of a tit of myself by having a verbal vomit about how much I love 'Different Class' so perhaps its for the best that I did not approach him!</div>

Kickers also did a collaboration with a long time favourite of mine... Lazy Oaf! I have been a fan of independent clothing brand Lazy Oaf since their days based at Superette just off Brick Lane when they shared shop space with one of my favourite jewellery brands 'Lady Luck Rules OK!'. Sadly the latter is no more but Lazy Oaf have gone from strength to strength over recent years. Kickers is just one of the big name brands they have collaborated with in recent years. The collaboration also included a fab pair of Kick Hi brogues but I believe the whole collection has now sadly sold out.</div>

I saw a girl wearing a navy pair with black jeans in manchester last week and that what got me thinking about Kickers. As great as the navy pair were, I spotted these black Kick Hi's in Office recently with the pink stitch detail and laces so if I was going to invest in a pair (and lets face it, I probably will) then I reckon these will be the ones. I am a complete Dr Martens devotee but I think Kick Hi's are a bit easier to wear for those who find DM's a bit fierce!<br />

Well, on a similar 'necessities' theme I thought I'd divulge my affinity for all things checked and tartan. For the last couple of years I've been loosely on the search for the perfect pair of tartan/checked trousers after I spotted this image on tumblr:<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Its funny how style and tastes evolve as I'm now not quite as mad about the Tumblr ones as I once was. I found my first pair in Topshop last year and then my new ones from ASOS were originally spotted in the ASOS magazine feature about Brit Marling a few weeks ago. They're quite a loose fit but they're considerably more comfortable than the Topshop ones - I couldn't wear those to a <b>big </b>meal or a day of lectures! I popped into River Island a few days ago and spotted another pair (thankfully I restrained myself and didn't buy them but they are fab). I'm reluctant to include a photo of them as the website picture does them no justice at all. In reality they're a deeper red and have really nice black detailing. These Topshop boutique ones are also lovely and, like my ASOS checked trousers, are available as a full suit. Obviously I'm aiming to dress these kind of trousers down a bit so I'm not really interested in matching jackets but these could look amazing as something a bit more alternative to a formal event or as work wear. I'll probably leave them as I've got a couple of other pairs of printed trousers and I have to be realistic about my student budget.<br />

Last year looking for a pair of tartan trousers was like looking for a needle in a haystack. But after Fall collections from the likes of YSL, the high street is inundated with them. Mango, Zara, and River Island are notable for their punk inspired collections this autumn. However, I think you have to be careful with tartan trousers as for many people they incite images of badly dressed punks and old ladies - definitely avoid the ones with copious amounts of zips, safety pins, and straps! If you aren't feeling the trousers then I think there are many alternative ways to work tartan and checks into your winter wardrobe.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Hedi Slimane's Saint Laurent (still struggling with the name change a bit!) collection, with its juxtaposition of gentle feminine fabrics and textures against metal and leather, was fantastic. Usually the term 'grunge inspired' incites an eye-roll from me but I do see elements of it in this collection. (It could be argued that high fashion can never be grunge, but thats a blog post for a rainy day.) It got me thinking of different examples of how to work tartan and checks. I liked how delicate black lace slips were paired with tough black boots and oversized checked shirts and cardigans. You can also find plenty of tartan tea dresses on the high street which are great if your tastes are more on the gentle and delicate side.Alicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18369355196835966493noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8600464463371965154.post-86265210569544609232013-08-25T11:33:00.003-07:002013-08-25T11:33:58.514-07:00Saturday<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

You might remember the trousers from a couple of posts back in my moodboard. I originally spotted them in the ASOS magazine and due to my weakness for all things checked and tartan, I knew I had to have them. They are a lot looser fitting than my other printed trousers but I really like the fit. I have been living in this oversized cotton shirt from Urban Outfitters since I spotted it in the sale a couple of months ago.</div>

I think Stella McCartney A/W13 was one of the standout collections from London Fashion week. I love the influence of strong masculine tailoring. But it was one particular aspect the collection that I fell for: the spectacularly ugly shoes. It no secret that I've been a long time fan of 'ugly shoes' with my creepers and Dr Martens, so its hardly a surprise that these caught my eye. The treads of these Stella McCartney boots remind me of tractor wheels and wellingtons. Sadly I can't afford the real thing and I suspect I would turn a few heads (in the wrong way) if I turned up to a lecture in these so I went looking for some tamer high street versions.</div>

While they don't have the heavy tread, my Topshop 'Astrix' boots kind of remind me of the McCartney boots. They're incredibly comfortable and therefore great for during the daytime. However, many people keep commenting on how high they are (??), perhaps I need to show them the Stella McCartney and Jeffrey Campbell boots above!<br />

Felt like throwing together a quick mood board of all the things I've been into lately. The hot weather went away and I've started thinking about A/W already! I'm loving tailored layering, grunge, silver and massive flatforms. Desperate to get my hands on the Mango ones in the top left hand corner to pair with the fab checked trousers I've just bought from ASOS (pictured on a jumping Brit Marling above for ASOS Magazine).</div>

I've got some blog posts in the pipeline so things should be fairly back to normal soon. (Got a pinafore dress on the way to me in the post, yeah!)<br />
<br />
I have uni exams in early June so my time has pretty much been consumed by this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg90dZa7F67Rag233l783j9VnCkQ7Pel4FtRaQyRTJZJgNRVyc0ev5bvY-92otJYGAflW8sFwbYpE8HqbnYaA58Omcs7Q1nHzgrE299hR3xDTXDxH17gf1VGeFe0b9KxQzS-67QHscZvyQ/s1600/SDC13270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg90dZa7F67Rag233l783j9VnCkQ7Pel4FtRaQyRTJZJgNRVyc0ev5bvY-92otJYGAflW8sFwbYpE8HqbnYaA58Omcs7Q1nHzgrE299hR3xDTXDxH17gf1VGeFe0b9KxQzS-67QHscZvyQ/s640/SDC13270.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
However, the past couple of months have not consisted entirely of this. I also went out dressed as a golfer to celebrate handing in our massive 5k essays, which didn't go very smoothly after West St Live (if you're from Sheffield, you'll know):</div>

I visited a housemate in Manchester and was treated to amazing weather. We just hung out in his garden all day:</div>

Many months of saving have accumulated in a new turntable/amp/speaker setup. My old record player was one of those all-in-one jobs and it sounded like the music was being played through a tin can which was not good! <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">A </span>working men’s
social club may seem like an unlikely venue for a two day showcase of some of
the best and heaviest music on the scene at the moment. However, over Easter
weekend the tinsel curtain-clad walls of Sheffield’s Queen’s Social Club played
host to Detestival. As the brainchild of Sheffield duo <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Wet Nuns,</b> it was billed as a selfish excuse for the pair to
showcase a selection of their favourite bands. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
While the bands were all
different, if a general theme is to be plucked from the line-up then its heavy
guitars. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Black Moth </b>brought some
good old-fashioned heavy rock to the early afternoon line-up. Front woman,
Harriet Bevan, is a fantastically edgy vocalist and they were one of my
highlights of Tramlines 2012. They delivered a similarly strong set at detestival
from recent LP <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">The Killing Jar</i>. The
front man of <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Dry Heaves</b> summed up
the tone of the weekend by declaring “#SWEATY” at the end of their furious
hardcore punk set. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Throne </b>followed <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Dry Heaves </b>with their own slightly more
subdued brand of stoner rock. Early Saturday evening, Leeds-based <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Hookworms </b>were let down by bad sound
and lairy afternoon drinkers but still managed to deliver a promising set fresh
from the release of their blisteringly good LP. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I’m hesitant to apply a label
to Japanese band <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Bo Ningen</b>, but I’ll
tentatively plump for acid psyche with moments of really heavy punk rifts.
Hyped up as a Wet Nuns favourite of the line-up, this androgynous, long-haired
four piece completely stole the show for the whole weekend. The strangely
entrancing dance moves and peculiar gurning of the lead singer paired with
psych rifts made this set pure madness. They left the subsequent bands <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Wet Nuns </b>and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Wolf People </b>muttering regrets that they had to follow such an act
and shouts of “Bo Ningen!” were heard amongst the crowd for the rest of the
weekend. However, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Wet Nuns </b>need not
have worried. The wonderfully heavy blues-rock of this Sheffield duo has gained
a strong following over the past year and they didn’t disappoint the home
crowd. Delivering one of the strongest sets of the weekend from a band that
claim to be inspired by “women, booze, death, and Enya”. ‘Throttle’ was a
particular highlight of the set. Sadly they plan to disappear for a while but
they will hopefully return with a much-anticipated LP later in the year. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Wolf People </b>ended the day and brought
some calm to proceedings with their own breed of folk rock.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Day two of Detestival promised to be a -slightly- more laid
back affair, a god-send for the aching limbs and raging hangovers caused by
Saturday’s onslaught of furious heavy rock and hardcore punk. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Wet Nuns </b>had managed to wrangle some of
the best and most exciting new psych bands on the scene for the festival.
Sheffield’s <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Temple of Coke </b>ripped
open proceedings on the second day, delivering a set of their trademark short,
fast and furious metal tracks. It is refreshing to watch a band that doesn’t
take itself seriously and the band’s performance can only be described as
brilliantly shambolic. If you do nothing else today, watch their fantastic cover
of some pure 90s gold, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4fIL9S57tA" target="_blank">All Saint’s ‘Pure Shores’, on Youtube</a> to get an idea of
what this Sheffield band are all about. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><br /></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">John
J Presley</b>, a performer who describes his style as “blues folk noir”,<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"> </b>played a completely captivating set
with heavy guitars and Nick Cave-style gravelly vocals. Manchester’s <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Kult Country </b>felt rather different to
the rest of the bands in the weekend’s line up but they were a firm highlight
of Sunday with droning vocals and heavy effects. Following <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Kult Country’s </b>well-received set,<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"> Temples </b>brought their own brand of mesmerizing dreamy 60s inspired
psych to Sunday evening. I can’t recommend their debut single ‘Shelter Song’
highly enough; it is an absolute must for Beatles fans. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
London- based <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">TOY </b>brought Detestival to an end,
headlining Sunday evening after the unfortunate cancellation of <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Hawk Eyes</b>. One of the most heavily
hyped bands of 2012, this psych rock group delivered an amazingly good set,
which was a fitting end to the weekend.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The limited amount of sound checking
time let some of the bands down over the weekend but this festival was clearly
a labour of love by <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Wet Nuns</b> and was
curated perfectly. There was a great deal of variety amongst the bands playing
but the weekend really came together as a whole. The atmosphere of heavy food (Street
Food Chef provided some tasty Mexican delights), heavy drink and heavy music
made the weekend mind-blowingly good. Like Tramlines, hopefully this festival
will grow to be a permanent Sheffield fixture.</div>

However, real life issues (uni work, cake baking, serving pizzas...) seem to get in the way and besides, the longer I leave it, the more images surface on the internet that make me fall even harder for her style. Every outfit looks like it has been carefully considered right down to the very last detail. However, I suspect that for the pint-sized Russian editor this is a completely effortless process. Miroslava is a firm favourite with the street style photographers at all the major fashion weeks and parties. While she regularly cobbles together an array of luxury western designer pieces, she prefers to champion Russian designers such as Vika Gazinskaya and Alexander Terekhov. Russia is shaking off the style-less abyss of the USSR and a fledgling design industry is slowly emerging in Moscow.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 26px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">I have this obsession with dressing smartly (who knows..) so I relished the opportunity to wear my beloved Zara leather collared blazer that fits like a dream this week while I had work experience at a local newspaper. I love it to bits, its everything that I expected from the collection and so much more. However, the press/general internet seem to have mostly lukewarm feelings towards it.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">It has the firmly Wang influence of amazing and unexpected tailoring and cuts but in a more mature way that fits the legacy and atmosphere of Balenciaga. I think some expected him to bring a carbon copy of his own line to Balenciaga but I'm just not sure it would have worked. Other are perhaps just still nursing their wounds from the departure of <span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;">Nicolas Ghesquière whose amazing collection some felt could not be bettered. However, Alexander Wang's collection has taken Balenciaga in a really fresh direction and I'm looking forwards to seeing what is in store for the future.</span></span><br />

In between trying to get my housemates to venture out and bring me back supplies and making very ill noises down the phone to my mum, I managed to find the time to fit in watching some of the fall shows. When I'm feeling a bit more up to it then I'll write up my thoughts on the shows. However, I thought I'd do a quick post on a trend that I can't seem to get away from but am really loving... layering jackets!<br />
<br />
It has been seen both on the streets and on the catwalk, most recently in the A/W13 DKNY show.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp-T7eiqtIe5gT0EWhP_ODRX0WXwDoBKtLNobHUKaE1fpvO9EoeENlQk8jpwZfvfsa0BGLXTV8_-7XrNZJnNA-trVHsp0HcVNpIdA3Wimq15L5-QBPgkgQkI4yJ9XHX-QwRI8QyxwGKDA/s1600/dkny.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp-T7eiqtIe5gT0EWhP_ODRX0WXwDoBKtLNobHUKaE1fpvO9EoeENlQk8jpwZfvfsa0BGLXTV8_-7XrNZJnNA-trVHsp0HcVNpIdA3Wimq15L5-QBPgkgQkI4yJ9XHX-QwRI8QyxwGKDA/s640/dkny.png" width="640" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I particularly love the black/grey/white contrasts and different jacket lengths as shown above with the cropped jacket paired with a blazer at DKNY. I think a classic coat such as a pea coat or trench coat and a blazer underneath is the best way to work this trend but I've seen great casual versions the trend such as on this off-duty model below, who looks great with a shearling coat and simple hoodie:</div>

I have work experience in a few weeks where I will be required to dress smartly so I'll use that as an excuse to pair my new Zara blazer with my coat. If I did it for lectures it would probably look a little too smart amongst the sea of hoodies...</div>

I've had exams throughout January and the snow has proven a rather large distraction. Here is what I've been up to:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitu0Uaq9TBWZxu1dqtsC0TjZ5x9zz4CVwP3t6WJ5aKkH3SD9xalKZAroM-6CSLoa5ynXr2AeDCEwy7iK5C8-XG-aFr7HdUi9HfQC5i7SdN4FItvIQ0k9zfE2RKmKF8nFnIrp-mOb8qmbA/s1600/2013-01-18+23.11.36.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitu0Uaq9TBWZxu1dqtsC0TjZ5x9zz4CVwP3t6WJ5aKkH3SD9xalKZAroM-6CSLoa5ynXr2AeDCEwy7iK5C8-XG-aFr7HdUi9HfQC5i7SdN4FItvIQ0k9zfE2RKmKF8nFnIrp-mOb8qmbA/s640/2013-01-18+23.11.36.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">An amazing curiosity shop we stumbled upon when taking a midnight walk in the snow.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Drove up to Snake Pass (the road connecting Sheffield to the rest of the world) with three of my housemates and had a walk around the reservoir. It was so lovely in the snow.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp2XZ4ggY3pRrxWVPnZrIZ1YRyK0GYI2N-kuvLr0P15yCN7EiL0GJ9bzFmQIfvBiU3K5x2Y_DRjraE4t6DT1s10RRbuUnPA5guqlOfeDZeABBc0mXQjES5YswlUJdZUTeNhlPQxrwpr_U/s1600/2013-01-19+15.40.21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp2XZ4ggY3pRrxWVPnZrIZ1YRyK0GYI2N-kuvLr0P15yCN7EiL0GJ9bzFmQIfvBiU3K5x2Y_DRjraE4t6DT1s10RRbuUnPA5guqlOfeDZeABBc0mXQjES5YswlUJdZUTeNhlPQxrwpr_U/s640/2013-01-19+15.40.21.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
However, with February comes the start of university again so I'm hoping to post a bit more regularly. I turned twenty on the 16th of January and after feeling very angsty about the end of my teenage years, I ended up having a really nice day at home in Blackburn with the family. It was nice to be cooked for and I went shopping in Manchester with my mum. I was lucky enough to get the much-pined-after Dr Martens that I mentioned in my last wish list. They virtually haven't left my feet since I got them and I'm finding them to be more versatile than my larger black Dr Martens.<br />

In my previous 'wish list' post I rambled about my mission to find a good dark cherry lipstick that was wearable (I'm not very adventurous with lipstick!) I went to the MAC counter in Selfridges in Manchester and after swatching just about every lipstick they have, I stumbled upon 'Dare You' which is this lovely velvety dark red. I apply it with a lip brush for greater definition and it is pretty drink-proof.</div>

I also treated myself to the Studio Fix powder while I was at the counter. I already use the Studio Fix foundation and this powder is so much better than my old Natural Collection pressed powder. I have oily skin but I didn't want anything too matte and this powder takes away excess shine without being extremely mattifying. The eye shadow was a lovely birthday present but I'm yet to discover which shade it is!</div>

I finally got sick of my awful Rimmel eyebrow pencil and invested in the Sleek Brow Kit. It is such a joy to use and has made my brows look infinitely tidier and well defined. I'm quite sparing with it as I'm not a fan of heavy brows but if you are then the kit allows the intensity of the shade to be built up quite intensely.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a pretty blah week last week so I popped into a few vintage shops to take my mind off things. I do love vintage clothes but I'm a terrible vintage shopper as I find it difficult to root out amazing finds. However, I was just about to leave Cow empty handed when I spotted this shirt under a jacket on a display. It is very oversized but I love the slight gaudy print. It looks great paired with the new docs and high waisted 'Joni' jeans.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm very loyal to my Topshop Leigh jeans and have repurchased them quite a few times over the years because of their great skinny fit around the leg and ankle. However, I've always wished they were a lot more high waisted. I toyed with the idea of getting the American Apparel Easy Jeans for a while but they are a bit too long in the leg for me (as are Cheap Mondays, wah), and a bit too expensive, so I just stuck with the Leigh jeans. However, Topshop finally released some high waisted skinny jeans in the form of the 'Joni' jeans. I immediately rushed out to get some and have been completely coverted. They are incredibly comfortable and very tapered around the ankle which is exactly what I was looking for. They look a lot like the Easy Jean but are a mere fraction of the price, so I definitely recommend them if your budget won't stretch to American Apparel. I might have found 'the' jeans!</div>

Hope you all had a lovely christmas and got what you wanted. I got the amazing Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty book and Grace Coddington's memoirs which I'll do a review of soon. This is just a quick one so here is my fresh (and brief) wish list for the start of 2013:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx0Ndu50KJZw2wgOmYTT1h9qjKMHLTdkbsMmr_DeF3d0eWUMUfEWeOgEFnaES2zDCpG9PTDyN7Lr7e34MonInsSe4xBTigPQaPr3gMC2xy76pUcTHqKlYFiEzRQ73gWnUHMF90BsdyfPw/s1600/1461ZCHE-L_Cherry_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx0Ndu50KJZw2wgOmYTT1h9qjKMHLTdkbsMmr_DeF3d0eWUMUfEWeOgEFnaES2zDCpG9PTDyN7Lr7e34MonInsSe4xBTigPQaPr3gMC2xy76pUcTHqKlYFiEzRQ73gWnUHMF90BsdyfPw/s640/1461ZCHE-L_Cherry_2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<b>Dr Martens 1461 in Cherry Red</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am a massive Dr Martens fan. I've worn my first pair of Dr Martens to death over the past year, they're just great for stomping around Sheffield in the rain and mud. Plus they're incredibly comfortable. However, when I got them for my birthday last year it was a big toss up between the classic 1460s (which I got in the end) or the 1461s. I haven't decided between red or black yet but basically <i>all</i> my shoes are black so a bit of variety would be good. I'm going shopping in Manchester with Mum on my 20th (argh) birthday so I will pop into the Dr Martens shop and try these on.</div>

<b>New Balance 576</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I go everywhere by foot these days and my feet are starting to look seriously beaten up so I'm accepting the need to dump the flimsy ballet flats in favour of comfortable shoes, or 'proper shoes' as my Mum would call them. I saw this look above posted on Tumblr a few weeks back and I can't stop thinking about how perfect these New Balance 576's are. There is a pair in my size going on eBay but I think I'm gonna hang fire until after my student loan comes in.</div>

<b>Mac Lipstick in 'Dubonnet'</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I bought Revlon's 'Black Cherry' a couple of months ago and it is lovely but it is very dark so I can definitely only wear it on nights out. I am looking for a 'wearable' dark cherry lipstick that can work for day and night. MAC's 'Dubonnet' isn't necessarily going to be the one I'll get because when I go shopping in Manchester, I'm going to pester the MAC consultants about their dark lipsticks and what they think may work best.</div>
<br />
I have three main resolutions for this year:<br />
<br />
<b>1. Read More</b><br />
<br />
Doing pretty well on this one, I've already got through Grace Coddington's memoirs, The Graduate and Brighton Rock this year. I love reading but I am always quite busy with uni and my part time job so I usually just crash into bed at night but am making an active effort this year to read every night before I go to sleep.<br />
<br />
<b>2. Cut down on Coca Cola</b><br />
<br />
Anyone who knows me well will know that I am seriously addicted to Coca Cola. However, it is definitely not doing my poor teeth any favours so this year I am determined to make a serious effort to cut down and only have it as an occasional treat when I'm out and about.<br />
<br />
What are your new years resolutions?<br />

cheaper and more creative ways to channel this trend on a student budget. Many
high street stores like Primark have children's sections full of cartoon prints

look great with the sleeves rolled up, high waisted jeans tough silver

<div class="MsoNormal">
Rumours have been snaking around the internet that Anna
Wintour is to be approached by Barack Obama for the position of US ambassador to
the UK. Wintour’s publicist has outright denied that she would take up such an
offer in the unlikely event she was offered it. However, regardless of this
many have been speculating about whether or not Wintour is a suitable candidate
for the position.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Anna Wintour is arguably the most powerful person in the global $200
billion fashion industry today. In her 24-year career as editor-in-chief
of US Vogue, she has engineered some very successful business and fashion partnerships.
The documentary ‘The September Issue’ showed the blossoming Thakoon and Gap
relationship, put together by Wintour who singled out the young designer for
the position. She has also raised substantial amounts of money for charity and
over $500,000 for Obama’s re-election fund. Furthermore, in an age where many
are mourning the death of the printed word and many newspapers and magazines
are struggling to gain a decent readership, Wintour has pushed Vogue to the
very forefront of fashion publishing.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Nile Gardiner, of The Telegraph, was quite spiteful in the
way in which he talked about fashion and dismissed Anna Wintour as merely part
of Obama’s ‘obsession with celebrities’. Wintour is not the celebrity face on
the front of the magazine as Gardiner woefully dismisses. Instead, she is the
woman behind it. The driving force that keeps Vogue as one of the world’s most
successful fashion magazines and has a considerable influence in the careers of
both established and up-and-coming fashion designers. It seems Gardiner expects
Wintour to take on the persona of her supposed <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Devil Wears Prada</i> alter ego Miranda Priestly with the headline ‘the
Special Relationship is not a fashion statement’. I imagine the only reaction
Miranda Priestly-esque reaction Wintour would have to that wholly patronising
headline is a dismissing roll of the eyes. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Hj8XpD2OWJKGy89h6Y2hgScKVS4_YnhxRxLUyOQrE9RtI1L0JVopoaDXsV1ndtKLTktB56QwviSWYixC9TXoPIBN0q6lNOXL68YowWhFU1aPIpUjOoWF1vWOxXOBggsaWiNgoDqPFIE/s1600/tumblr_m6cjtcHv8M1rzxwtdo1_500.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Hj8XpD2OWJKGy89h6Y2hgScKVS4_YnhxRxLUyOQrE9RtI1L0JVopoaDXsV1ndtKLTktB56QwviSWYixC9TXoPIBN0q6lNOXL68YowWhFU1aPIpUjOoWF1vWOxXOBggsaWiNgoDqPFIE/s1600/tumblr_m6cjtcHv8M1rzxwtdo1_500.png" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
However, dealing with business issues does not necessarily
translate well into dealing with important diplomatic issues, which is the
central role of a US ambassador. ‘A Rose in the Desert’ was the headline of a
3,000 word glowing report of the Asma al-Assad, first lady of Assad’s murderous
Syrian regime, printed by Vogue in march 2011. Many consider this mistake to
have blighted Wintour’s chances at the post and would be a shady point in the
unlikely event she were offered it. Fortunately, Vogue later distanced itself
from the deplorable Assad regime and the article was pulled from their website.
However, somebody in such an instrumental diplomatic position, as the US
ambassador to the UK would be, cannot afford to make a mistake like this.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ultimately, I think Anna Wintour is unsuitable for the
position of US ambassador to the UK because of her lack of political experience,
and on this basis only. Her position as a powerful business woman simply cannot
be disputed and I want to tear my hair out when I read online articles in
relation to this issue that belittle her for the position purely on the basis
of her role in the ‘seemingly pointless’ fashion business.</div>

Gerbase studied womenswear at Central St Martins and later

after her date of birth. On her website, Gerbase herself picks up on the fine
blurred lines of femininity and masculinity in her work. The quality of fabrics used is central to the vision of 1205 as a brand. 1205 seems to have

I've had a H&M long sleeved chiffon dress as my trust LBD for nearly two years. It has been reliable and I've worn it over and over again. However, it started to look really tired and tatty so I started to search for a new 'going out' dress. Anyway, over the past few weeks I'd spotted this 'Gabby' dress from Motel on a few bloggers and decided to go for it (20% student discount, score) and it is utterly amazing. It is definitely a statement dress and I'm looking forwards to wearing it out over the holiday period. Was a bit gutted when I discovered they did the 'Gabby' dress in an iridescent blue/purple colour after I'd bought the green one but this is really lovely and rather festive. I'm a bit blah about the top of my arms (and cold weather) so I prefer long sleeved dresses but it is cut quite low at the back which is a really nice subtle way of showing some skin. I think nail varnish and lipstick would have improved this look a bit but I'll definitely be doing that when I actually wear it out.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At Christmas, the more sequins the better. The festive period is definitely a reasonable excuse to bring out the beautifully eccentric. I've selected a few of my favourite dresses in price ranges to suit all pockets.</div>

For those with a slightly more generous budget this christmas, the Topshop Limited Edition range has some really lovely festive dresses. Like the black one on the left, most are really elegant 20s/30s inspired pieces. However, the one on the right is just amazing. The repeat pattern print reminds me of gold baubles and the structure of the dress with the front/back cut outs is really striking.</div>

This ASOS dress is really festive, it reminds me of multi-coloured christmas lights and baubles. The main reason I went for the long sleeved version of the Motel 'Gabby' dress was chilly Sheffield weather. If it wasn't for that, I would have seriously considered the off-the-shoulder version as it still covers the arm issue and is really striking.</div>

This plunge maxi dress isn't exactly for the faint hearted and I probably wouldn't wear it out to go clubbing but the festive period usually means cocktail evenings, balls, and dressy parties. For those kind of occasions, this would be amazing. Crimson velvet has always seemed really festive to me. The misguided skater dress is a steal at £19 and would look great with some black sparkly stilettos and and discrete gold jewellery.</div>

Again, sorry to be massively late on posting about such big news but uni work blah blah blah. Perhaps I haven't been paying attention to fashion news very well lately but I definitely did not see this one coming. However, now it has happened, it totally makes sense. Wang's style is very much in keeping with Balenciaga's clean cut image. Wang is still maintaining his own label which enforces the idea that he will try something a bit new at the helm of Balenciaga. This is an opportunity to maximise on the opportunities that an established fashion house can provide for someone who is still a relatively new designer.<br />
<br />
Its interesting that many believed Christopher Kane to be the next at the helm. Perhaps he is headed for a role at a major fashion house in the next few years. I can image Christopher Kane at Burberry for some reason (not that I want Christopher Bailey to leave!).<br />
<br />
Now my university deadlines are over and the holidays approach, hoping to make more frequent posts. Ordered the Motel Gabby dress in Iridescent green the other day so I'll post about that when it arrives and some christmas wishlists etc.Alicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18369355196835966493noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8600464463371965154.post-19621629426755686372012-11-13T16:10:00.001-08:002012-11-13T16:10:06.729-08:00Nicolas Ghesquiere Departing from Balenciaga<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I've been super busy with uni work and will be for a bit yet but wanted to just acknowledge (though pretty late on this one!) the departure of Nicolas Ghesquiere from Balenciaga after 15 years. Throughout my younger teenager years when I was just getting interested in fashion properly and discovering various fashion designers, labels and their styles, Balenciaga was one that always markedly stood out. I'm writing this as though its an obituary and its not of course! I look forwards to seeing what his next move is and what direction Balenciaga take after his departure.<br />
<br />
Just a select few of my favourite Ghesquiere Balenciaga designs. The last one is from my all time favourite collection of his, spring 2011. Been trying to work a similar look recently (with jeans instead of the shorts...):<br />

Recent HaulSorry for the absence, been very busy with general uni stuff but I'm making a concerted effort to get back into blogging. Meanwhile, I've not been so sensible with money over the past month or so and have quite hastily stocked up on my winter wardrobe. I've tried to justify most of them by claiming they're things I needed but some... not so much.<br />

Yeah it hurt to type that out. The coat did indeed cost me £140, no student discounts or anything but its damn beautiful so that consoles me slightly. I'm in the process of selling my Debenhams coat from last year to lessen the price blow a bit but I am really pleased with this one. I've been after a leather jacket and a smart black winter coat so it kinda kills two birds with one stone.<br />

<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Backpack - Urban Outfitters (Mens) - £44 (includes 20% discount)</span></b></div>
<br />
This is the first of my student discount purchases. The big shopping centre in Sheffield is Meadowhall and every year they have a student 'lock-in' where big stores like Topshop have 20% off. While I don't turn my nose up at Topshop 20% off (as you'll find out in a minute...) they do it quite often but its great for shops like Urban Outfitters that rarely do above the usual 10%. Last year I used a tatty leather satchel I'd gotten off ASOS for uni. It had frankly seen better days and carrying books on one shoulder was starting to hurt so I decided on a practical purchase for once. Its a guy's bag and kind of oversized but I love it. I kind of want it to get beaten up a bit and look worn and the badge collection was bigger than that but they have a habit of falling off! I had a really great one that I got from a gig where a sub-pop band called Jaill were playing.<br />

<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Leather Bag - Topshop - £60 (includes 20% discount)</span></b></div>
<br />
When I got my first part time job at 16 I spent my first pay check on a lovely leather bag from Topshop that I used day in and day out religiously. Last year one of the handles dropped off and I reverted to using my beloved Rough Trade canvas. However, it's not really ideal for everyday and when I spotted this on a shelf in Topshop I instantly fell for it. I seriously love the shape of this bag and it feels like amazing quality.<br />

<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Nighthawk studded boots - Office - £75 (includes 10% discount)</span></b></div>
<br />
I remember seeing the original Chloe boot about two years ago and being a bit unsure about them but I needed to get some winter boots so I decided to try these Office copycat versions on and fell for them instantly. The buckle/stud detail is pretty badass so they're definitely the statement part of an outfit. They're also incredibly comfortable.<br />

I don't have much gold jewellery, always been more of a silver person, but this dinky little necklace just caught my eye. <br />
It has become pretty much a given that Mary Katrantzou will be featured in my favourites. She has never done a collection that I've disliked and I fell for S/S13 hard. I love the exotic stamp theme that runs throughout it and the odd structures to some of the dresses.<br />
<br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Lacoste</span> </b>(NYFW)<br />

<br />
<br />
I'm not usually one for sports wear but this was by far one of my favourite collections from NYFW. I love the repeat pattern sports detailing on some of the pieces, especially the polo shirt print and the simple outfits. It seems I love the two extremes: crazy structures (Mary Katrantzou, Vivienne Westwood etc) or just really simple like this Lacoste collection. The splashes of cobalt blue throughout the collection went well against the crisp clean white.<br />
<br />

<br />
Dungarees are that one item I've always secretly wished I could get away with. So when these wonderful pink creations graced the catwalk at 3.1 Phillip Lim I was over the moon. I'm also quite taken with the floral word t-shirts, they remind me a bit of the craze for Frankie Goes to Hollywood style 'RELAX' t-shirts that were everywhere in 2006 but in a good way.<br />

<br />
<br />
Didn't like the ochre leather at the start of the collection (for some reason it reminds me of the 1970s, in the worst way possible) but as it went on it just got better and better. I'm really into tailoring at the moment and can't seem to get enough of the metallic brocades that are popping up everwhere. There is a rather lovely pair of metallic brocade cigarette trousers in Topshop at the moment that are tempting me...<br />

<br />
<br />
I loved the House of Holland collection so much. It feels a lot more grown up than any of his previous collections but there were still elements of his trademark bursts of youthful fun. This dye tie was a particular highlight for me and I am desperate for it to trickle down into the highstreet!<br />
<br />
What have been your favourite collections from the recent fashion weeks?<br />

Situated on the main road in Shalesmoor, the Nicholls Building was home to a grocery wholesalers from the late 1800s but it is now home to an eclectic mix of vintage clothing and antique dealers, Dolly’s Delights being just one of them. It is the first unit you are greeted by when you enter the large first floor of the building, bursting with antique treasures. I spent ages browsing through Dolly’s wonderful wares and was particularly taken with an amazing vintage fur stole and a kitsch Coca Cola tin.</span></div>

Dolly’s Delights was offering 10% off all weekend and released 12 red balloons, one for every month of the business, into the Sheffield sky with gift vouchers attached. They’re still out there so keep your eyes peeled for deflated red balloons lurking in the bushes! </div>
I've coined this term myself because to me its all about luxury with a gothic twist. In the dark glamour trend, black is the integral colour. It is brought to life by metallics (particularly gold) and jacquard patterns. Think smart cuts, tailoring, metallic detailing and classical prints like baroque and jacquard. Soften the trend up with velvet and light fabrics like chiffon.<br />
<br />

It was mainly black but the velvet brocade detailing brought the tailored suits to life and I love the harsh militaristic styles against the soft chiffon fabrics. </span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The gold baroque applique also sums the dark glamour trend up pretty well. Dresses with this kind of detailing are all over the high street at the moment such as this one below which I've spotted in River Island. Pairing a (faux) fur jacket with dresses in the evening would be perfect for this look.</span></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA4hZsTzorOE8OXIPJLelzqkw4W9vHExXJksvn_iqRbxV01edi6LgJukcGqK3U_xPsGZs0s5h8AHeqJurFe83DwgI2DmuyTY0fMxHQrnH5rZwxA4U4kG-MSzdz4ktGg6jrH9wAoypEMJA/s1600/dolceg.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: black;"><br /></span></a></div>

This trend aso translates into beauty. Dark lipstick with simple eye makeup was huge in the fall collections and a particularly favourite of mine was Pat McGrath's work on the Gucci collection which was all about bleached eyebrows, simple eye makeup and strong lipstick.</div>

I was going to do one big blog post on A/W trends but I'm going to split it into several individual posts instead. Coats are like <i>my thing </i>so naturally they get to go first. A coat graces nearly every single outfit I wear in late autumn and winter so I like it to be perfect and usually get a new one every year (or every two years if it was a particular expensive affair).<br />

'Fuzz' sums this trend up better than 'fur' and to me is very 70s inspired. I could image walking down the street in a coat similar to the Matthew Williamson one with orange bell bottoms and platforms with 'Get It On' by T-Rex blasting in the background. I also highly recommend taking a look at Mulberry's latest ad campaign inspired by 'Where the Wild Things Are', I think it is great.<br />

English heritage made an appearance in quite a few A/W 2012-13 collections. Forget quilted jackets and Jack Wills, this is all about fine tailoring - dog tooth, tweed and argyll. These kind of coats would look amazing with brogues and statement knitwear, in a similar style to Ralph Lauren.</div>

This is one of my favourite coat trends and the one that I'll probably try and buy into once autumn comes around. I really like the look with a fitted suit underneath similar to what Paul Smith has done above. However, for those that aren't confident fully embracing the masculine trend this winter then a mannish coat paired with a feminine dress would look great, or if you do decide to go for the suit then pair it up with heels.</div>

<br />
This trend featured so heavily in the fall collections that I had to include more than just a select few designer pieces. For the most part, this is kind of entwined with the 'mannish' trend because of the oversized tailoring of the coats but Jil Sander and Celine managed to put a feminine edge on these masculine shapes by using feminine colours. A few years ago I had a coat from Topshop that would have fit this trend perfectly - I regret getting rid of it now!<br />

Gray has recently joined the likes of Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Kane and has collaborated with British high street giant, <a href="http://www.topshop.com/" target="_blank">Topshop</a>. Interestingly, it is the first makeup collaboration Topshop have ever done and there is quite a bit of excitement surrounding it.<br />

<br />
The clothing collection is only a very compact one with six pieces but I think that together they sum up Louise Gray's style. A style that has been generating much excitement at LFW since she burst onto the scene in 2007. For me, personally, there are a bit to many sequins going on and I certainly couldn't wear them casually (though I wish I had the guts to!). However, this t-shirt below is amazing and with it's long length I could see it being a perfect dress for a night out with a pair of ruby red heels.<br />

<br />
Unsurprisingly, the makeup collection channels Gray's signature eccentric style. It is all about strong colours and adventurous looks. Gray is rarely seen without her strong eye makeup which reminds me of a child that has been let loose on their mother's makeup (in the best possible way!). The collection includes blusher, lipstick, glitter, eye liner, nail varnish and surprisingly even makeup brushes. In <a href="http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/style/fashion/Beauty/article1100631.ece" target="_blank">an interview for The Sunday Times</a> Gray explained that she wanted everything right down to the packaging to have the wow factor.<br />

<br />
I'm not very adventurous with make-up; liquid eyeliner or a smokey eye on a night out is about as crazy as it gets. However, I'd like to try this collection as perhaps it'd encourage me to change my ways! While I doubt I'll be walking down the street with blue and orange lines around my eyes any time soon, it might encourage me to venture into brighter colours and different looks. I do particularly envy that Gray doesn't care what onlookers think. I also love that she is modelling the collection herself as its a bright and colourful collection so who better to do it!<br />
<br />
This collection goes on sale this Friday.<br />
